How can AI services and new technologies be innovated, tested and implemented collaboratively?

Service Science

In view of the increasing digitalization in all areas of the economy and society, companies and organizations must deal with the development and management of data-based service systems in order to remain competitive and be successful in the long term. Service Science is an interdisciplinary field of research that deals with the design, development and optimization of services. Our research focuses on the development of data- and AI-based services and the design and testing of data-based business models. We also research the data-driven optimization of service processes and cognitive, i.e. AI-based service interactions and experiences.

For many companies and organizations, it is challenging to identify and evaluate added value and specific use cases for the application of AI. The research center KODIS conducts research into various issues relating to applied artificial intelligence. Our focus is on the selection and prototypical implementation of AI algorithms and applications that increase the efficiency of processes and improve the quality of services and products. We use different approaches such as generative AI, image recognition or knowledge graphs. We also conduct research into ways of validating and certifying AI solutions and deal with non-technical aspects of the use of AI. This includes, for example, the concretization and implementation of the paradigm of human-centered AI, which places the needs and expectations of users at the heart of development.

Ecosystem Science

New technologies can fundamentally change processes, business models or even entire sectors of the economy. In order to exploit the potential of these innovations and integrate them into existing systems, we help to overcome existing barriers and enable successful implementation in practice. In addition to identifying and evaluating the potential, we also deal with the application-specific question of how these can be implemented together with other players in innovation ecosystems, also against the background of joint cooperation with competitors (coopetition).
